Justin Bieber Says ‘Instagram is for the Devil’

"I think hell is Instagram, I’m, like, 90 percent sure."

Justin Bieber’s long Instagram hiatus has been felt for months by fans around the world. The pop star went from having one of the world’s most followed accounts to stepping away from the platform altogether. During a Purpose World Tour stop at London’s O2 Arena, Bieber teased and educated his fans about why he’s decided to stay away from the ‘gram.

It started in a Socratic question-and-answer format: “Who thinks I should get my Instagram back?” he mused. Naturally, the crowd of Beliebers went nuts. Then he brought down the hammer.

“Nah, I don’t want to get my Instagram back,” Bieber then said. “Instagram is for the devil. I think hell is Instagram. I’m, like, 90 percent sure.”

Bieber’s disdain for Instagram reached a fever pitch over the summer when overzealous fans pounced on gossip reports that he was dating model and Lionel progeny Sofia Richie.

“I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate,” he wrote at the time. “This is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like.”

Shortly thereafter, the account was disabled and he hasn’t looked back. One day in August, the Instagram appeared live once again but Bieber quickly clarified that the profile was revived in error.

In other news, Bieber told the London crowd that he was excited to sleep in his own bed. The Purpose World Tour’s European leg has concluded, so he’ll be able to do just that through 2017.
